Like other courses, DigiSkills.pk had arranged a panel discussion for the Digital Literacy course on February 09, 2019. These panel discussions are part of the efforts to enhance trainee's engagement and address the ambiguities of the upcoming talented future of this nation. The panel discussion was organized in association with the Virtual University of Pakistan. The panelists included Dr. Zafar Mahmood Alvi, Dr. Nasir Naveed as course level and academic level experts respectively and Mr. Saad Hamid as an Industry Expert. Since Dr. Zafar Alvi and Dr. Nasir Naveed are part of the organizational setup of the project, they were able to shed light on not just the importance of this project but also the impact this project is creating amongst the masses. This makes this panel discussion very interesting to watch.
Dr. Zafar Mahmood Alvi is the Project Director of DigiSkills.pk. He is a former Senior General Manager (IT/MIS) at Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited. He was a faculty member of various prestigious educational institutes across the country. Dr. Zafar has more than 30 years of experience in the field of IT. During his time at SNGPL, he implemented the largest Customer Care & Billing System in Pakistan. He is also the Member Steering Committee of Sultan Qaboos IT Chair (UET).
Saad Hamid is a digital evangelist and community mobilizer with 10+ years of experience. He is the SME for the course WordPress at DigiSkills.pk. He is a founder of Skillsfirst.org and CEO of demo.org.pk. He also works for Invest2Innovate (i2i) as the Innovation & Community Lead where he engages with young startups and entrepreneurs and helps them with digital marketing, growth hacking and design thinking. Saad is a Global Shaper at World Economic Forum, TED-Ed Innovator and an Acumen Fellow. He also runs the Google Developers Community in Islamabad as Pakistan’s first Google Developer Expert (GDE)
Dr.Nasir Naveed is an Associate professor of the Computer Science department at VU. He is the Online Training Expert at DigiSkills.pk. He plans, organizes and reviews all the essential tasks at DigiSkills.pk. He graduated from Institute of Web Sciences and the Technologies University of Koblenz, Germany where he was a part of several researches regarding Data Sciences. Currently, he is investigating the machine learning techniques for exploring the text contents for search and linked open data.
