About

Graphic Design, also known as communication design, is the art and practice of planning and projecting ideas and experiences with visual and textual content. This course is focused on both theoretical and practical parts. The aim of the course is to develop design sense in trainees by the help of theoretical concepts and practice.

The focus of practical part will be on designing software e.g. Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. Different exercises related to online market requirements will be assigned to the trainees. So that they can work professionally in online market.

Using Affinity Designer (by Canva), this extensive course aims to move students from basic design theory into realistic, industry-standard vector and raster design workflows. The section, which consists of 13 organized lectures, strikes a mix between technical software expertise, fundamental graphic design concepts, and contemporary AI-assisted processes.

After completing this section, trainees will be able to use Affinity Designer with confidence, handle intricate layer architectures, incorporate AI technologies into their creative processes with ease, and produce polished branding, social media, marketing, and print designs.

Rafay Anwer Siddiqi | Dr. Nida Ijaz

Rafay Anwer Siddiqi | Dr. Nida Ijaz  (Bachelor in Communication Design with Distinction | MFA in Graphic Design)

Mr Rafay is an accomplished multi-versed Creative Director working for over two decades in the Creative media industry in Pakistan and outside Pakistan. He graduated from NCA, Lahore, in the Communication Design department (2003). He has done FA in fine arts from Government University College, Lahore, and started gaining Professional experience right after his Matric exams (1996). 

 

During the early learning stage, he produced animated works and client storyboards. His professional career started in media and advertising design. He joined a Lahore-based Tech company as a Multimedia Designer. Moving on from there, he joined the Broadcast Design industry as a Creative Coordinator at Express News TV. He produced many Virtual sets, Graphics, Documentaries, In-house packages, and Motion graphics there. Then he joined a Lifestyle based company as a Creative Head in Islamabad.

 

After spending years in Print design, Illustration, Photography, Videography, Digital and Web design, UI design, 2D animation, and motion graphics, he joined a Game-based company, Game chefs, where he produced 20 plus titles as a Game Designer. He has produced 2D animated series for the children at Dot Republic Media.

 

He also went to UAE to help an international Tech startup. There, he assisted in product designing, branding, and advertisement. He gained skills in UI/UX Design, filming, Architectural photography, and Videography by joining startups, e.g., He worked as a Creative Head at a Tech Company Conrad labs and Architectural based startup Banjaiga.

 

He has teaching expertise at BNU Lahore for Animation Tools and Techniques Course.


He has been a Juror for many Art institutes of Pakistan, Like NCA, BNU, Comsats, Lahore/Islamabad, IAC, Gujrat University, and Lahore University for Women.

 

Currently, he is running a Rafay Anwer Creative Studio for design-related services.

Dr. Nida Ijaz is an accomplished researcher, educator, and designer with over 15 years of teaching experience. She earned her BFA in Graphic Design followed by an MFA in Graphic Design from Punjab University, and later completed her PhD in Fine Arts from Lahore College for Women University (LCWU). Her doctoral research focused on visual communication, with a dissertation titled "Evolution and Visual Impact of Contemporary Logo Design in Pakistan."

 

A prolific scholar, Dr. Nida has published more than 19 research articles in national and international journals and has presented at over 30 international conferences. She is the author of the book "Sensuous & Spiritual Expression of the Indian Artist" and is currently working on a second book. Her research has also been featured by the European Alliance for Innovation, and she holds membership in the College Art Association (CAA) in the United States.

 

Dr. Nida began her professional career in the advertising industry, spending five years working as a graphic designer across various software houses and agencies before leaving the corporate sector as a senior graphic designer. In 2010, she joined the Graphic Design department of a university as a permanent faculty member, where she has since taught a wide range of subjects including Illustration, Advertising & Marketing, History of Western Art, History of Design, Interactive Design, and Visual Communication Design. Her core areas of expertise include Graphic Design, Advertising & Marketing, and design software such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe After Effects.

 

Over the course of her academic career, she has supervised more than 100 BFA thesis students and 14 MFA thesis students.

 

Dr. Nida currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Graphic Design at Lahore College for Women University, Lahore.

    • Using the Pen Tool, Node Tool, and Live Shape controls, create accurate vector icons, pathways, and forms.
    • Create expert logos and brand materials by combining and manipulating basic geometry using Boolean operations.
    • Utilize non-destructive clipping masks, locking, grouping, and methodical alignment to effectively manage multi-element designs.
    • Use both internal and external AI tools for asset management, automated background removal, and intelligent image resizing.
    • Create production-ready creative materials for branding, social media, and marketing by seamlessly merging vector and raster files.
    • To extract slices and export completed designs in appropriate file formats optimized for print and the web, use the Export Persona.
